Marie was born and raised in Elgin into a strong Catholic family. Although she did not attend parochial school, she attended catechism classes on Saturdays and especially loved summer catechism. She met her husband, Larry, in high school, and they married after his return from Vietnam in 1972. They have three children (daughter, Lisa married to Mark and twin sons, Joshua and Jeremy) and three granddaughters (Madie, Sydney and Chloe), and grand dog (Gunner).
Marie had been away from church for a long time, but had been attending a series of Bible studies with encouragement from her aunts. She learned through these studies that whatever church you attend should be Bible based. She began attending Cornerstone in 2000 and had a strong feeling God led her to this place. There she began to learn and grow more in her faith, and became a member in 2005. Most of her working career involved being an administrative assistant in some capacity, and after being unemployed for a time, the opportunity at Cornerstone became available. She began working at Cornerstone as Office Administrator in September of 2012.
Through life events, Marie continues to go back to Romans 5:1-5, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
