April 2023 Pastor’s Letter
From the Desk of Pastor Melissa
Dear Friends,
Our celebration of Holy Week and Easter is not just a recollection or remembrance of the central events of Christianity— it is a life-giving sacred sign of hope that is realized in our lives each and every year.
We need hope right now. We need comfort right now. We need community right now.
Beginning on April 1st, there will be worship, study, prayer and praise every day of the week until our Easter Celebration takes place on April 9th.
Saturday, April 1 at 5pm Common Ground Palm Celebration
Saturday, April 2 at 10 am Rejoice Palm Sunday
Monday, April 3 Online Devotion
Tuesday, April 4 at 10 am Bible Study and Devotions
Wednesday, April 5 at 6:30 pm Prayer circle at church
Thursday, April 6 at 7pm Maundy Thursday Worship
Friday, April 7 at 7 pm Good Friday Worship
Saturday, April 8 at 5 pm Common Ground Holy Saturday
Sunday, April 9 at 10 am Rejoice Easter Worship
We will extend our Easter Celebration for two weeks as we “Come to the Table” (our next mini-worship series) for food and worship at our Saturday 5pm Common Ground and Sunday 10 am Rejoice gatherings. After Easter, the followers of Jesus came together around tables to eat, pray, heal and share. They needed community as we need it now.
Bob Butler writes, “Discipleship requires a table.” At our kitchen tables, we laugh, cry, wonder, decide, play games and bills, we eat and talk. On doctors’ tables, we share our hurt seeking wisdom and healing. We grow closer to God and each other when we come to the table. Come to the Table with us April 15 and 16, April 22 and 23!
Each year we also are invited to renew the miracle of faith and new life, as we journey with Christ in his passion, death, and resurrection. I look forward to seeing you, your family and your friends in the coming days and weeks!
We’ll talk again soon,
Pastor Melissa
