February 2024 Pastor’s Letter
A Note from Jayson Hemphill, Worship Arts Coordinator
Dear Friends,
Greeting in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ!
It is amazing how “time flies”. As the calendar turned from 2023 to 2024, I realized that it has been two years since I joined you in ministry here. The last two years in your midst have been a blessing to me, personally and spiritually. I am thankful for the opportunity to work so closely with so many of you as you support worship ministry through your attendance, participation, and most importantly through your prayers. It is exciting to be a part of casting new vision, forming new teams, and implementing new ideas. It’s particularly meaningful to see how these changes bring about more opportunities for you to share your gifts with each other and to the glory of God. The Worship Arts Teams that are at work in our midst are filled with such opportunities!
Saturday, February 17 marks the return of our Saturday evening “Common Ground” worship. I hope that you are as excited as we are about it. This time of worship is the culmination of the efforts of so many people involved in the Worship Arts Ministries here. The Music Selection, Creative Arts, Music, and Technical Arts Teams meet regularly and communicate constantly about how to enhance God’s worship at Cornerstone through music, set design, décor, and sound and video. The newly formed Common Ground Planning Team is engaged in designing worship that will glorify God in ways that we haven’t even imagined yet. I am always impressed by the selflessness with which these teams go about planning and preparing for worship. The team meetings are a free exchange of creative ideas intended to design worship that will ultimately glorify God and bring those in attendance closer to Him, and to each other. It is humbling to be in the midst of so many talented and creative people, who also have a heart for worshipping God.
In addition to shepherding your staff and worship teams, Pastor Melissa has been leading a collaborative effort to bring a new form of Christian Education to Cornerstone that will also launch on February 17. This will be an opportunity for folks of all ages to engage in preparing for and learning from the messages we’ll all be hearing in worship each week!
This month, as we begin the season of Lent, my prayer is that you will not only find opportunity to be in prayer and self-reflection, but that you will find more opportunity than ever to be in worship and community here at Cornerstone Church.
I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve here among you.
