Cornerstone Youth Confirmation Class 2021/2022
Confirmation is an opportunity to explore the promises made by your parents and guardians and to claim those promises for yourself. Confirmation is a time when we proclaim “with firmness” our own faith and desire to live as a disciple, or follower of Jesus Christ. People do not graduate when confirmed as a member of the church, confirmation class is part of a life-long process of discipleship. In the United Methodist Church, at our baptism, our confirmation, and in membership vows, we promise to commit to sharing our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness.
Please provide direct contact information to the church office for parents, guardians and your youth. Parents and guardians will be notified of pastoral contact with your youth.
We begin 2021 with a more normative program and therefore will have expectations for leaders, confirmands and parents.
A class schedule will be shared every two months or more. That schedule will include dates and times for events, mission opportunities, retreats and classes.
Attendance is a requirement for class, mission opportunities, ministry events and worship.
Confirmands are expected to attend worship, ministry events, mission opportunities, and classes. Students and parents are expected to make them a priority. If attendance becomes an issue, pastor will work with the confirmand and their family to create opportunities to “make up” what has been missed. If make up processes are not completed, participating in being confirmed may be delayed.
Worship is on Sunday at 10 am.
Worship is a central part of the community of faith.
A worship template for note taking is available in the sanctuary. Turning in these completed sheets will be mandatory at the end of each month. You will also receive your templates via email.
Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8pm.
Dessert will be offered each Wednesday gathering. Desserts will be provided by the parents of participants. A sign-up sheet will be made available.
Making the Most of Classes:
1) Be on time for class.
2) Be equipped with your Bible, notebook, and writing utensil.
3) Bring your best attitude and questions.
Prayer Circle is most Saturday evenings at 7 pm via Zoom. Try to attend once each month or more. A link will be provided.
Mission Opportunities will be held every couple months. Confirmands should be attend 50% of these events.
Love to Know: Life Talks 5:30-8pm Youth worship and dinner. Some Wednesday evenings will have a time to meet with regional youth, speakers and musicians. This is open to all youth in the area, please invite your friends.
If you know of conflicts beforehand, please contact the church office or Pastor Melissa so that we can plan accordingly.
