Dear Friends,

During the season of Advent, we prepared for the coming celebration of Christ’s birth through the lyrics of the song, O Holy Night. We understand that God is always speaking to us in a variety of ways, through scripture, people and the arts. In light of the fear, pain, grief and tumult of this world, especially now, we keyed in on the lyric, “A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices.” We would rejoice because in the midst of it all—Christ is Lord. Our Christmas celebration has come and we rejoice because Christ is Lord!

The calendar page has turned it is 2021! 2020 is in the past and yet, the turmoil is still with us, pandemic mitigations are in effect, the fear and grief, illness and loss remains. What shall we do, how will we live into and live out of the truth that Christ is Lord?

I think that the answer can be found not only in our scripture but in the lyrics of O Holy Night. “Fall on your knees, O hear, the angel voices!”

Hear the voices that tell us not to be lost in fear for Christ is Lord! Fall on your knees. When we fall on our knees we show our respect of God, our fealty to God, our reverence of God. we trust that our lives are in God’s hands and that we are called to be the hands of feet of God in a world in need of this message of hope.

Over the next few weeks we will look at the joy found in following Jesus. We will begin praying in earnest for one another naming three or four families each week. We will fall on our knees grateful that God is holding us, wherever we are, whatever we are going through-because we are God’s children and Christ is Lord!

I hope that you will make a commitment to be in worship with your friends and family and to be in prayer for one another.
