September 2022 Pastor’s Letter

From the Desk of Pastor Melissa

Dear Friends,

What does it mean to be a community of faith?

People of faith worship, they pray, they stay in relationship with the people of their church, they serve neighbors, they witness to the love of God for everyone, they see God in each face they encounter and they give of their resources.

Cornerstone is worshiping, serving meals, and gathering for prayer. We are studying God’s word and we are helping those in need with funds, prayers, and meals. Cornerstone is still sharing the beauty of a life lived for Jesus, and your church needs your help and your support. Worship together (if possible) or online (if needed). Give in person, through the mail, or online.

During the month of September, we will see through Jesus’ example and teaching that relationship is the core of our faith. Loving God and loving our neighbor is the greatest thing we can do with our lives, and when we love and care for each other—we do so for Jesus. Join us in worship, and discover once more how God is calling us to live and love as the community of faith that we are created to be.

Over the past four weeks we have explored what it means to be a friend and bring our loved ones to Jesus and the healing that can be found in Christ’s loving presence. Folk have also been encouraged to allow themselves to be carried to Christ by friends who love them enough to be their stretcher bearer.

In the scriptures, those who were now in relationship with Jesus were told to “Rise up!” Once rising, I am sure they began to praise God for their lives. That is what we will do in worship—Praise!

Engaging in regular worship with a community of faith is essential to living a rich and holy life. In worship, we rise up and respond to God in faith as one body—to be renewed, recharged for the abundant life God has created us to live. In worship, we draw near to God and each other celebrating this wild and wonderful life knowing that even when life is no picnic, God prepares a feast for us.

See you in worship!

Pastor Melissa
